Vacancy Summary

Their subsidiary is responsible for the new build of biomass power plants (electricity only and
CHP) for the group. An urgent requirement exists for a suitably qualified Civil Engineer who will be responsible for the specification of civil works and assisting in the selection of the civils contractor. This is a permanent post based in Swindon. Other base locations may be considered however.

Principle Accountabilities

* To work with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers undertaking various technical activities in support of the development of a major biomass project up to project sanction.
* To support the Engineering Manager in determining, planning and monitoring the
involvement of corporate technical expertise as necessary.
* To lead the development of specifications for the civil works, which may be split into the
following packages.
* Site offices, temporary fencing and laydown compound
* Outfall drain, circulation pipework and initial landscaping works
* Site strip, hardcore mat and piling works
* Drainage
* Foundations and support structures
* Buildings, domestic services and HVAC
* Site roads, car parking and hardstanding
* Site security and fencing
* Landscaping
* To assist in the review of tenders and selection of civil contractor(s).
* To work with the Engineering Manager and Third Party Engineer to develop a plant layout with optimised maintainability characteristics.
* To review/check relevant site work acc. Specifications and give feedback/advise to
Construction Manager/ Claims Manager/ Admin Manager/ Engineering Manager

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience

* Degree qualified Civil Engineer with experience ideally procured within the power generation sector
* Understanding of other related engineering disciplines
* Self motivated and able to work within a complex team environment.

In return, you can expect to receive a salary in the range of 30,000 - 45,000 dependent on experience plus car allowance, pension, healthcare and 15% bonus.
