Vacancy Summary

A research person with in depth SATCOMS knowledge and experience to work as part of a mobile comms modelling team and bring specialist SATCOM and Satellite experience to the team.
The main area to develop is advanced unmanned aircraft communications within UK and overseas airspaces. The team won't be just focused on this area, as there is a need to understand communication displacement in various atmospheric conditions throughout the World.
The successful Candidate will be involved throughout the entire development and integration lifecycle through to task closure.

Essential:
MSc/Phd/Degree in Satcom Engineering, IT + Electrical/Electronic + Telecommunications Engineering or similar
Desriable
Membership of a professional body - IEE, IEEE, BCS, or equivalent.

Significant experience:
Of data and voice communications services over military satellite networks, including research, analysis, simulation and synthetic environments, for the configuration of satellite-based networks and their integration with terrestrial networks
In communication and a good understanding of the concepts of unmanned aircraft platform (UAV) communications methods and tools from a satellite perspective along with development or implementation role related projects
Of Skynet 5 and other such related communications projects
Working knowledge of Qualnet / STK / SynQ with particular expertise in STK/Comm and related plug in modules
Leading complex system integration projects
Proven ability to understand and capture client's needs and transform these into architecture solutions
Demonstrated ability in implementing rigorous system engineering processes and improvements in system engineering phases of a project
Successfully demonstrated the ability to work in an international and intercultural environment
Proven capabilities and experience in the following areas:
Familiar with design considerations for high availability systems
Performance design and modelling techniques for mission critical systems
Working knowledge of security principles and considerations for systems that form part of the Critical National Infrastructure
Integration of third party products and plugins
Public safety considerations and public sector interfacing roles
Senior systems engineering role in major R&D, design, build or implementation projects
Rigorous application of system engineering processes throughout a project's life cycle
Familiar with system architecture modelling tools, such as Telelogic System Architect and DOORS or Rhapsody, UML or sysML and system engineering methods (e.g. INCOSE)
